โœŠ๐Ÿฝ HAPPY JUNETEENTH AMERICA ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿฝ

Juneteenth is a combination of the words June and nineteenth. It commemorates the day, more than two months after the end of the Civil War, when enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom.

A holiday celebrated on 19 of June to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

All 50 states either commemorate or observe Juneteenth but only 18 observe it as a permanent paid state holiday, those being Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine Massachusetts, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia and Washington. (Have to do better, like every other law it should be enforced!! Hell, it’s only 1 dam day!!) Baby steps…๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ’ฏ
